CBD Vape Strength Guide UK: How to Choose the Right mg for You
CBD Vape Strength Guide UK: How to Choose the Right mg for You
There's no single "right" CBD vape strength. The answer depends on your experience with CBD, how often you intend to vape, and personal preference. This guide walks through the three main strength tiers — 150mg, 300mg, and 1000mg — and helps you pick where to start.
Production note: replace with real product photography of the three pens side by side.
Which CBD vape strength should you choose?
If you've never vaped CBD before: start with 150mg (around 0.24mg CBD per puff). It's a gentle introduction and you can step up later if it suits you.
If you're an occasional vaper or familiar with CBD: 300mg (around 0.48mg per puff) is the middle-ground option. Most popular choice for people moving from oils to vapes.
If you're an experienced CBD vaper: 1000mg (around 1.6mg per puff) is our most popular strength. About 600 puffs per device, lasts most users 5–10 days.
What CBD vape strength actually means
When a CBD vape is labelled "1000mg" or "300mg," that number refers to the total milligrams of cannabidiol (CBD) contained in the device. It's not how strong each puff feels — it's how much CBD is in the entire pod across the lifetime of the device.
The figure that matters for day-to-day use is CBD per puff. To work that out, you divide the total mg by the puff count. Most disposable-style CBD vapes deliver around 600 puffs per device.
150mg ÷ 600 puffs = approximately 0.24mg CBD per puff
300mg ÷ 600 puffs = approximately 0.48mg CBD per puff
1000mg ÷ 600 puffs = approximately 1.6mg CBD per puff
That's the practical difference. A 1000mg vape doesn't last 6× longer than a 150mg vape — they both deliver around the same number of puffs. What changes is how much CBD is in each one of those puffs. A higher-strength device puts more CBD in each draw.
This matters because your dose is determined by how many puffs you take, not which device you bought. Someone using a 1000mg vape for 10 puffs gets a similar CBD intake to someone using a 300mg vape for around 33 puffs. The 1000mg user just gets there faster.
The three CBD vape strength tiers, explained
Most reputable UK CBD vape brands organise their range around three main strength tiers. These tiers don't have official definitions — they're a practical convention that emerged from how people actually buy and use these products. Here's how we organise ours:
| Strength | CBD per puff | Suits | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150mg | ~0.24mg | First-time CBD users, those who prefer a milder profile | Haze Starter |
| 300mg | ~0.48mg | Occasional users, those moving over from CBD oils | Haze Starter |
| 1000mg | ~1.6mg | Experienced CBD vapers, regular daily users | Haze Legend, Haze Ice, Haze Platinum |
150mg CBD vape pens
The lightest option in our range. A 150mg device contains around 0.24mg of CBD per puff and is designed as an introduction to CBD vapes. It's the strength we recommend for anyone who's never tried CBD before, or anyone who's tried CBD oils but is new to the vape format.
150mg pens are also the option to choose if you want to start slow and assess how the format suits you before committing to a stronger device. You can always step up later. You can't easily step down.
300mg CBD vape pens
The middle-ground option, and a popular choice for people who already use CBD in other formats (oils, gummies) and are moving to vapes. At around 0.48mg per puff, a 300mg vape delivers roughly twice the CBD-per-puff of a 150mg.
Many UK customers stay at 300mg long-term — they find it works for occasional use without being too much. Others use 300mg as a stepping stone before moving to 1000mg.
1000mg CBD vape pens
Our most popular strength, and the one experienced CBD vapers tend to choose. At around 1.6mg per puff, a 1000mg device delivers the highest CBD-per-puff figure in our range. Most customers find a single device lasts between 5 and 10 days of regular use.
1000mg is not necessarily the right starting point. The "more is better" instinct doesn't apply to CBD — many first-time users find lower strengths suit them better. But for people who know they want CBD vapes as part of their routine, 1000mg gives the best per-puff value.
Which CBD vape strength suits you?
Strength selection comes down to three honest questions. There's no perfect formula — but the answers point you toward the right tier for your starting point.
1. How experienced are you with CBD?
- Never tried CBD in any form — start with 150mg. You'll learn how CBD vapes suit you without commitment.
- Used CBD oils or gummies, never vaped — 300mg works well. Vapes deliver CBD differently than oral formats, so don't assume the dose translates directly.
- Used CBD vapes from another brand — match the strength you used before, or step up if you found it light.
2. How often do you plan to vape?
- Occasionally (a few times a week) — a lower-strength device is more practical. You won't burn through it before it goes stale.
- Daily, but a few puffs at a time — 300mg is a good middle ground.
- Daily, regular use throughout the day — 1000mg gives you the best per-puff value. You're getting more CBD per puff and the device lasts a reasonable time.
3. How sensitive are you to inhalation in general?
- If you find vaping (any kind) makes you cough, start with a lower strength. The vapour itself is gentler at lower strengths because the formulation is more dilute.
- If you're an experienced vaper from any background, you'll find any of the three strengths comfortable.

Stepping up CBD vape strength over time
Many UK customers don't pick a strength once and stay there. They step up as they learn how CBD vapes suit them. The typical progression is:
- Start at 150mg or 300mg for the first few weeks.
- If you find yourself taking many puffs per session without it feeling like much, consider 300mg or 1000mg.
- Most experienced vapers settle at 1000mg long-term because of the per-puff economics and the wider flavour range available at that strength.
There's no rush. A 150mg vape costs less than half what a 1000mg costs. Use it. Learn what you like. Step up when stepping up makes sense.
It's easy to assume a 1000mg pen is automatically "better value" than a 300mg one because the mg number is higher. It's not necessarily — the pens last roughly the same number of puffs, so your usage rate doesn't change. What changes is the intensity per puff, and that's a personal preference, not a quality measure.
Common CBD vape strength mistakes
A few patterns we see regularly from UK customers, so you can avoid them:
1. Going straight to 1000mg as a first-time user
The instinct to "get the strongest" often leads new users to a 1000mg pen, which delivers nearly 7× the CBD per puff of a 150mg. New users often find this too intense for an introduction. A 150mg or 300mg starter is almost always the better first purchase.
2. Comparing CBD vape mg to CBD oil mg
A 300mg CBD oil and a 300mg CBD vape are completely different products with completely different absorption profiles. Don't assume "I take 300mg of CBD oil per day" translates to "I want a 300mg vape." Different format, different maths.
3. Switching strengths without finishing the device
If you bought a 300mg pen and want to try 1000mg, finish the 300mg first. You'll have a more accurate sense of whether 1000mg is genuinely better for you, rather than just being a novelty.
4. Buying multiple full-size pens before knowing what suits you
If you're new to CBD vaping, a single device is enough to test the format. Stocking up on 3+ pens before you know if you'll like the flavour or strength is a way to end up with cupboard inventory you don't use. Buy one, finish it, then decide whether to buy more — and whether to stay at the same strength or step up.
- Start at 150mg or 300mg if it's your first CBD vape
- Finish your current device before stepping up
- Check lab reports before buying any CBD product
- Track how many puffs you take per session so you know what suits you
- Going straight to 1000mg as a first-time user
- Comparing CBD vape mg to CBD oil mg directly
- Switching strengths without finishing a device first
- Stocking up on 3+ full-size pens before you know your preference
CBD vape strength and lab tests — why both matter
The mg figure on the front of a CBD vape only matters if it's accurate. Independent lab testing is how that's verified. Without it, the strength on the label is just a marketing number.
For every batch of our CBD vape liquid, we publish a certificate of analysis (COA) from a UK-accredited third-party lab. The COA confirms:
- CBD content — confirms the advertised mg figure matches the actual measured CBD in the product
- THC content — confirms below the 0.2% UK legal threshold (in practice, ours are below detection)
- Heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents — confirms the product is safe to inhale
If you're buying CBD vapes from a brand that doesn't publish lab reports, you have no way of knowing whether the strength on the label is accurate. View our current lab reports →
UK legal context for CBD vape strengths
CBD vapes are legal to buy and use across the UK provided they meet three conditions: less than 0.2% THC, TPD-compliant hardware, and notified to the MHRA. Strength itself isn't regulated — a 1000mg pen is legal in the same way a 150mg pen is, provided both meet those three criteria.
The UK disposable vape ban (effective June 2025) requires all vape hardware to be rechargeable. Single-use disposables are no longer legal. Our entire range uses disposable-style rechargeable hardware that complies with the new regulations — the same easy, pre-filled experience as before, but with a USB-C port.

Key takeaways
- Strength is mg per device, not mg per puff. A 1000mg vape doesn't last 6× longer than a 150mg — they last roughly the same. What changes is the intensity per puff.
- Start lower if you're new. 150mg or 300mg is almost always the better introduction. You can step up later. You can't easily step down.
- 1000mg is for experienced vapers. Our most popular strength, but not necessarily the right first purchase. Best per-puff value for daily users.
- Check the lab report before you buy. The mg figure on the label only matters if it's verified. Look for a UK-accredited COA covering CBD content, THC content, and contaminants.

CBD vape strength — frequently asked
First-time CBD vape users typically start with 150mg or 300mg devices. These deliver around 0.24–0.48mg of CBD per puff, which gives new users a gentle introduction to the format. Experienced vapers tend to prefer 1000mg devices at around 1.6mg per puff for the per-puff economics.
1000mg CBD vapes are our most popular strength but they're not automatically the right starting point. They deliver around 1.6mg of CBD per puff across approximately 600 puffs — suited to experienced vapers who already know how the format suits them. For first-time users, 150mg or 300mg is a better introduction.
A 1000mg CBD vape from our range delivers approximately 600 puffs per device. For most regular users, that's between 5 and 10 days, depending on how often they vape. Lower-strength devices deliver the same puff count — the difference is the amount of CBD per puff, not the duration.
Many UK customers use different strengths at different times — a lower-strength vape in the daytime, a higher-strength one in the evening. Strength is a personal preference, not a one-size-fits-all decision. If you're new to CBD vaping, start with one device at a single strength and learn how it suits you before mixing.
The standard step-up path is 150mg → 300mg → 1000mg. Finish your current device first so you have an accurate sense of how it suits you, then try a higher strength. Many vapers stay at 300mg long-term; others find 1000mg better. There's no rush to step up if you're happy where you are.
Some brands sell vapes labelled at very high strengths (2000mg, 3000mg, even higher). These are often shortfill e-liquids designed to be mixed with other base liquid before vaping, not pre-filled devices ready to use. Be careful comparing strength figures directly — a 3000mg shortfill is not equivalent to a 3000mg disposable-style pen. Always check whether the strength is for a pre-filled device or a concentrate.
Slightly, yes. Higher-strength CBD vape liquid contains more cannabis distillate, which has its own natural earthy taste. Lower-strength devices are more dilute, so the added flavour profile is more pronounced. Most of our customers don't notice the difference, but a few flavour-sensitive vapers prefer 300mg over 1000mg for this reason alone.
Yes, CBD vapes are legal in the UK provided they meet three conditions: less than 0.2% THC, TPD-compliant hardware, and notified to the MHRA. Following the disposable vape ban from June 2025, all UK CBD vapes must also be rechargeable rather than single-use. Every Haze CBD vape meets these requirements. More on UK CBD regulations →
